When I spoke, I spoke truth to others— but lies to myself.
Most of us will think ourselves away from our own life’s answers.
I used to say “get it by any means” like that was my value.
But my actions revealed otherwise.
My actions were that of someone who would never do anything that went against others.
Do you talk about values you don’t actually practice? Almost like you want to be that person…. but you aren’t.
Presenting is not the same as being.
I wasn’t what I presented.
Most of the decisions you make are tied to your values.
YOU ARE ALREADY practicing what you prioritize… the question is, how to optimize in order to live a fulfilling life?
I make regular things hard— like committing, moving, taking on new roles, etc.
And its because I prioritize freedom.
Even when I wanted to prioritize ambition & success— I never actually made decisions that put those values first, rather, I defaulted to protecting freedom and spoke ambitiously, falsely.
And I never stopped to think what’s driving me and my life, why did I automatically do the things I did?
Rather than trying to be more ambitious or successful, I’m now going to prioritize my one true value.
I’m going to become autonomous, as practically as possible.
My advice to you?
Find the value you never cheat on, and build your life around it.
Pay attention to why you do what you do, you’ll find the truth there— and then, you’ll know what steps to take next…
