Why You Never Score a Goal…

What’s up MF.

It turns out that deep calling we feel, the need to run away from our lives and start anew, all of that– it isn’t spiritual.

It’s neuro-chemical, and goals are the cocktail to balance your brain.

That said, we suck at goals– most of us suck at the entire process.

We were never taught how to set them, pursue them, measure them, re-assess them, or even the basics of if we like them.

So if you’re like me and you keep dozing off into imagination land, walking on the grass is always greener, and giving up your current progress for fantasy— it’s because you’re lacking, GOALS.

While your goals NEED to be exciting for you to want to work towards them, they also have to be small and easy enough for you to accomplish them on your own. This balance is what most people get wrong.

Go too big– you won’t do shit.

Go too small– you’ll leave it for something else.

So, here’s the Fools Formula For Fulfillment (F4): Achievable + Realistic * Compelling

You’ll need a sentence to act as a north star, a daily reminder, to keep you excited and staying on course. A compelling sentence that excites you.

The structure of your compelling sentence is shown below:

Something Specific: I’m producing my first short series on YT

Time Period: that’ll legitimize my production company and brand by april 2022

How it helps the world: because most people don’t want to spend years reading random self help, this will be comedic but also help individuals understand themselves better– through comedy.

How it helps you: And this will make me a director, writer, producer, which is what I’ve always wanted… and as an entrepreneur because phuck hollowwood.

This actually excites me and now I know how to act on it. You’ll have to figure out step one– what excites you. If you don’t know, write a journal for 30days about things you think you’d like to do.

Why 30 days? — you’ll see a pattern.

Your mind always goes to the same thing, once you see it– you’ll know where to start.

Good luck you handsome MFs. It’s in you to succeed, you just need to balance the brain farts.

Fool On.

Rules For Your Motion: How To Stay Advancing

Hello MF.

I really do feel like I’m aging in reverse, because it’s hard for me to take any of my own obstacles seriously.

All the compound interest finally caught up with me, now all I see is facts of nature– and what needs to be done as insurance around that.

With that said, here’s a wisdombite: If you can’t do it on your own, assume it’ll never get done.

Everything good in my life came from sitting my ass down and doing the work. Easier said than done for a lot of us.

You likely don’t know where to start, especially if you have a new goal or want something you’ve never done before.

Yesterday I realized how ruthlessly impartial time is. It’ll pass by whether you use it or not, and waiting for an answer is something Father Time is disgusted by. Do that, and you’ll certainly age to the end of life as the same person.

So I asked myself the most important question: Knowing my goal, what could I do everyday, by myself, that would lead to its accomplishment?

And the brain being the remarkable organ it is, gave me the answer.

Now my goal is something I control. I have something I can measure, and move towards all the while getting better.

This is how you advance.

If you’re wondering why nothings happened, it’s because you’re waiting.

Pick any goal, and then ask the very same question above. Like this, you will certainly move forward.

Who Do You Wanna Be When You Glow Up?

Self Transformation comes through your work– so who do you want to be?

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed, but most people claim the most common traits among us all as unique to them, and don’t dare claim their own weirdness.

You being a kinda good speaker is meaningless, so are all extroverts. You people watching and taking on the traits of others as an actor, to then try to work into their minds, thats more what we’re looking for.

See, you’ve been tricked and lied to.

Convinced that the things that make you weird are a bad thing, something to hide. But now, at this point in your life– those are the very traits you’ll have to bring out to the surface if you want to succeed.

Deep down all of us crave ourselves.

We crave the parts of us we repressed growing up– every single one of us. That’s how you explain why some people date total opposites, or have strong obsessions with certain shows and characters.

The human being is a projector– and our world is a reflection of our mind.

We say we want to get better, we say we need to find ourselves.

Truth is, it was there the whole time.

And if you want to transform, you want to become what you truly are, you need to stop judging yourself, screw the culture, and bring it out.

Here’s the strangest part of it all. By bringing the inside out, you end up fulfilling the other aspects of life by proxy.

We transform through authenticity not cold showers and morning routines. We transform the more connected our individuality is to the things we do.

I FINALLY understand this.

And now the thing I’ve wanted my entire life is within my grasp. I always valued a fulfilling career– but in my youth, I wanted success by any means, more. Chasing others paths led me to straying from my own uniqueness.

Comparison is not only the thief of joy, but the thief of self.

If you explore your own weirdness, traits you once rejected, you’ll not only open all these facets of untapped creativity– you’ll find what it is you’re looking for.

My career was always going to be what it is. The signs were there. But I could have never landed here, without embracing myself.

Want a life of ecstasy?

Start with you.

Find Your Weird.

O the places you gO… đź—ş

What’s up MF.

If we could map your history what would it show? How often do you revisit places, dreams, certain life goals?

We’re going to need nonbinary thinking to reach some of those destinations– a type of fluidity is required. If you ever wondered what it is that causes you to stray and leave or never pursue your dreams, here it is.

The Bigness of it all.

You’ve built them up as too big for you (current you).

You’ll know you do this when you keep revisiting a goal and then waste years intellectualizing why it’s not for you. I’m just the type of person that…

The problem is desire isn’t intellectual. You’re born to what you like. The whole vibe thing isn’t a process, it’s your individuality meshing with the environment.

My goals haven’t changed, well, not the real ones. The real ones stand the test of time, and you’ll find yourself still drawn to them.

You only flip flop in life, when you’re disconnected from yourself.

The difference is now I’m ready for what I want. I’m become the type of person who can live that life. A lot of you are afraid of your goals because they may demand total evolution in your character.

Is it worth it?

….Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh phuck yes.

Anything short of that is a total waste of life. Your body, mind, and soul speak to you everyday. To make it real and not woo– it’s your genetics, your uniqueness, your own personality, that drives you to be inspired by very specific things, goals, places, and people.

Pay attention, pay attention to where your mind keeps taking you.

If it has any kind of pattern to it, there is truth there.

And if it sparks something within, then go.

Follow Your Spirit Guide And Be Lost Forever đź‘Ś

The human being is a superstitious species.

When we’re not using science to excuse our own pathetic weaknesses, we’re dismissing it– protesting how little everyone knows about the universe: “We’re on a floating rock, dude.”

The more of an outsider you are, the better you’ll understand the insiders… not agree, just understand (understanding is what leads to success, more on that later).

AND today It would seem like theres a ton of outsiders, so why do so many people sound dumb as rocks? Well, because they are.

Just hear me out. To grow and evolve, you have to test your own ideas and assumptions about the world– and most of you won’t. Somehow you’re pathetically afraid of being wrong about existence, our creator, and the why behind us being alive.

Ironic.

So, let me leave exit the abstract and make my point:

You’re lost because you follow your Spirit Guide.

Your autopilot, the way you act without thinking, the things you automatically do, assume, feel, and how you approach situations– are all TRASH.

It’s as true for me as it is for you, and every single one of us.

This is the real battle of the human being. Rest knowing it ain’t democrats or republicans– no one is chasing you. You barely exist, so how can the things you invent be real?

Your internal war is this one– illusions. It’s you figuring out your guide is an evil loser who stops you from seeing reality, and your job is to return to the land of actuality… without winged baby bitch.

How?

Well, assuming you like the idea of living a successful and productive life– you’ll need to do the hardest thing yet.

Leave your guide.

Your default is your fault.

Starve them.

Test every natural assumption and document what works and doesn’t. It’s annoying, but journaling is the easiest way to see reality. You suck in your head, you need something to track data and keep you tethered.

Try it.

And win the war.

What Finding Yourself Looks Like

Coachella, LSD, and experimenting at Joshua tree– sound familiar? With millennials chapter 2 making their debut (gen z), we’re starting to see a common theme of self exploration.

Both generations are making it cool to introspect and I’m all for it.

But when you’re lost as shit, what does it mean to find yourself? Is there a process, or is it really just getting lost and then observing what you find?

The catalyst of change for me was movement– Hero’s Journey crap. I left the known and entered the unknown, and did it a few times. No books, personality tests, or psychic natal chart readings could make up for this.

When you leave and you’re alone, all that’s left is your base.

Everything you’ve ever been influenced by is instantly peeled off and you get to discover how you really feel about the world and yourself.

Never leaving your hometown is dangerous– because you stay under your influences.

But if you can’t leave, is there another option? I’d still recommend leaving but there is– and that’s purposely challenging your own beliefs.

What do you really believe? About the world, about yourself, about others? Why do you believe it– is that voice in your head your own?

These are not easy questions to answer but ultimately it’s this time of thinking that frees us.

You have to find yourself and the only way to do that is to start with the fact that you don’t know yourself.

Let go of your strong opinions and pop the hood– take a look at what’s in there. The reason people are so angry and depressed is because they’re repressed. They’re not themselves, they’ve lost touch.

Don’t share their fate.

Explore.

You’ll land on you– eventually…

What’s up MF,

The other day I came across a high value youtube channel– from an entrepreneur, talking about “what it takes.”

This content is gold, especially today in our unemployable status seeking times.

One of his videos was on belief, and suddenly the light hearted jokey vibes turned dark, and he went from relatable to 1% achiever… in a good way.

He doesn’t play with “I AM” statements.

Like he wouldn’t even repeat what a group of friends said about themselves at dinner, because those particular beliefs don’t serve him.

His only I AM statements were beliefs that could help to reach his goals, if they don’t do that in any capacity– he throws that shit out and never says it again. Watching this, of course I was even more interested.

My old ways of thinking tempted me to copy this asap.

I used to try out anything I learned, something like this would have been right up my alley to immediately adopt.

But I’m passed that and that’s not what this post is. What this is about is landing on you.

You’ll land on you– eventually.

Everyone succeeds doing it their own way– authenticity is what beats competition. Don’t throw out your path to do it someone elses way, even when you’re low– it won’t bring you success.

The alternative doesn’t mean you have to sit there and be a loser.

Listen to yourself and pursue your own inclinations, that’s how you win and discover your own potential.

You’re drawn to the tools and people that are for you, just don’t get swallowed by it.

Follow yourself.

đź“ť But What Goal Could You Stick With?

Hi MF.

Do you have weak ass goals?

Everyone’s taught the importance of goals– but sometimes the reason you don’t stick has nothing to do with how hard you worky-work or your lack of discipline. Sometimes you fall out of love– and I don’t see this talked about enough.

The measure of a goal has nothing to do with how bad you say you want it, but whether or not it actually motivates you?

And for a while mine didn’t, don’t, and kept failing. Sure. You’re always motivated in the beginning because change is exciting.

But then you keep seeing shiny objects everywhere, maybe your thing isn’t the thing. My solution for us bright lookers is this: Don’t chase the means, but the end.

I always want to try a new path. Always.

I’m realizing my mind’s default is to fall in love with the idea of something entirely new, but this makes it hard as shit not to cheat on my current path. The solution?

What don’t you change on?

The end.

I’ve always wanted a very specific lifestyle and that’s never changed. So the daily reminder to myself is to move towards that lifestyle, and every decision will be held in contrast to that goal.

Does this action move me towards this life that I really wanna?

You have to bank on your weaknesses, and tbh your goals should act as an insurance policy around them.

All the successes that I have had came when I not only considered my bad habits– but counted on them. I got into writing because I knew no matter what, I could stick with it– despite being moody and all over the place.

Even with all the internet turds selling goal setting (#barsAF) –goals are still highly underrated. The right goal will improve just about every aspect of your life.

We’re human beings– we need to move towards something, but it has to be the right thing. So if you struggle to stay moving toward one thing, pick a thing you don’t change on.

Pick the end, and then considering where you normally struggle or fail– what would be the best way to reach that end?

IF you’re honest with yourself, this is all it’ll take.

Fishes in Trees, Monkeys in Seas: Finding Your Zone of Genius

Hi Fool,

It’s been a while since we did one of these.

Last week I had my 1 year anniversary as a writer… tears of joy, but tears are tears. Anyways, it got me thinking as celebrations of life always do– where am I? and more importantly, what’s next?

I came across an idea that spoke to me very deeply, and this has become the primary focus.

Zone of Genius.

This is not my idea, just something I’m sharing. That said,

There are four zones:

  1. Zone of Incompetence.
  2. Zone of Competence.
  3. Zone of Excellence.
  4. Zone of Genius.

Zone of Incompetence are the things that other people probably do better than you (ie- fix your car), and therefore you should outsource if they don’t give you joy.

Zone of Competence are the things that you do just fine, but others are as good as you (ie- clean your bathroom) and therefore you should outsource if they don’t give you joy.

Zone of Excellence are the things that you are excellent at (ie- better than others), but don’t love doing.  This is the danger zone.  Many people will want you to keep doing these things (as they gain significant value from you doing them, ie- key functions in your job), but this is the area that you should also look to move away from.  This is the hard one!

Zone of Genius are the things that you are uniquely good at in the world, and that you love to do (so much so that time and space likely disappear when you do them).  This is where you can add most value to the world and yourself.  This is where you should be driving toward spending most, if not all, of your time.

Recruit some outside help to help you find your zone of genius. Send these questions–

In your interactions with me:

  • What do I do that you experience as “world-class”?
  • What do I do where I appear to be experiencing fun, peace or joy (if different from above)?
  • What do I do that I am good at but that I don’t appear to enjoy?
  • What do I do that I am not better than others?
  • What do I do that I am actually worse than others?”

Life’s too short to not live out who we are.

Stay Foolish.

Under the Influence & Ur Cheap Hollywood Dreams

You have to be afraid of your way to stop doing it, and why? Because your lame and fluffy cloud-head isn’t moving you forward.

I think society is slowly retiring the word “dreams” — in the future, maybe we only use it when explaining deja vu’s and our untapped psychic powers.

Dreams are cheap.

Besides entertainment value, they contribute next to nothing for our lives. In fact, they may even do more harm than good.

Some of us feel oddly accomplished just by having a dream, it keeps you from feeling like a total loser because theres something to hold onto…. even though it isn’t real. I think the nature of dreams makes us delay all action.

I’ve seen this in everyone I know.

They point to a bigass star– and obviously need a lot of rocket fuel to get there… but they also need a rocket, a rocket license, and a map.

Maybe they plan.

So they “do the google” and find the “how to do this dream of urz breakdown.” And now they know, it takes this much $$ and you’ll need various resources– of which you have none. Years pass, they’re pursuing the having of these resources… and now they’re too old for the dream, so they say.

Have they moved forward and really even tried?

Of course not.

This is what dreams do for most people.

They cloud your head, vision, and life. They make you obsess over something but without working towards it and honestly, they’re completely unnecessary.

Fuck a dream, dream a goal.

Practically set a goal for yourself that’s worth achieving and never stop til you get it. We’re human beings– we need carrots on a stick to chase. It’s better if you don’t totally love it, but just want it for practical reasons. This will keep you level and unemotional– which leads to better strategy and action.

By nature, everyones default is to fall in love with their dream. That’s a failure formula waiting to be concocted.

All you need to do is build something you’re built to build, and you’ll reach a goal. Do this and somehow the universe will miraculously reward your efforts and your life will be better than anything you’ve ever dreamed of.

Destiny Thieves: Why is Everyone a fangirl?

This little light of mine…

…can’t shine if yours is brighter.

Even the “successful” people fall prey to this. They dedicate their lives studying and copying other successful people.

We went from: What would Jesus do? to What would Marcus Aurelius do?

And because we’re living in this weird time where everything is documented and copy-able, its seen as good practice to emulate your favorite dead person.

I don’t believe your success if your life shadows someone else.

The fact that so many of these people, still wealthy and seemingly successful, hold onto dear life proves they don’t really live.

“I want to live forever” is a disguise for “I don’t live at all”.

No one who copies other people lives fully– they’re disconnected from who they are and thus what they’re meant to do.

I’ve coined this phrase: Destiny thieves. People who copy other successful peoples path, and sacrifice their own in the process. Trading your light, your sun, to become a planet in someone else’s orbit.

Fangirling is at best, a hobby, don’t make a career out of it.

The type of fulfillment that comes from being connected to your work isn’t something that can be manufactured.

It hits different.

So, forget “what would turd do” and ask yourself what could I do?

The call is for those who hear it.

Get Off The Struggle Bus At Any Stop

Everyone preaches hard work.

You should “love the grind” as they put it– but if you’re not seeing any returns in life then fuck your hustle.

And you most likely won’t if you’re destiny stealing.

I don’t believe in numbers 2-10. Everyone is a one, every single one of us has a path, it’s your life– how could you not?

I think the real challenge of today is not so much finding it, but staying the course. There’s so many cool things out there, and the second yours turns meh– you’ll be tempted to leave. And that would be the biggest mistake.

It’s not that it doesn’t take some work, but it definitely won’t be as hard as the rest of life. When you’re on your path things go smoother. Life still happens, but becomes far more manageable.

So, how do you get off the struggle bus? Firstly, stop watching gurus.

Those guys are irrelevant idiots who fog your mind with motivational garbage and flood your system with junk info. You need to reconnect with yourself and if you’re not one to journal and ponder, just give yourself some silence. Go do something solo.

It’s also worth mentioning, the more serious you take this –the less likely you are to see any success.

When I obsessed over finding my life’s work, I somehow moved far as shit away from it. That mindset guarantees never finding it.

It takes playfulness and objectivity.

Being playful will open your curiosity and being objective will get you practical.

What I’m doing now is what I did as a kid, it’s who I am. BUT I would have never chosen this myself, I only landed here when I let go of trying to find it.

It doesn’t take years of searching or hard work, or sacrifice and being broke.

That’s those damn goo-roos selling courses who gave you that idea. I found this path and got on it in one day.

It looked like this:

  • Realization came, I’m delusional (we all are). So, I can’t see reality and I keep chasing random moments of happiness that end very badly for me.
  • I’m moody and extreme, which often leads to me withdrawing from life. But I know my skills are good for certain creative fields– so with these two traits: Where could I go where I’d stick?
  • What could I do no matter what?
  • Landed on writing.
  • Launched a blog and had a rule that I had to post every single day. This led to scoring a client, this led to grabbing a career.

That’s the path.

It’s not oversimplified. What could you do on your own right now, that you could stick with?

The answer to that is the start of your path.

No one wants to play… but everyone wants the prize (my life philosophy)

We’re living in a very controversial time right now.

One wrong exhale, and you can cancel yourself off the internet, which is huge since real life doesn’t matter anymore.

Without twitter and facebook, we’d be nothing… how meta?

Anyways, today every single person has an opinion. Even more unique, they’re not curious about yours– only if you agree with them. Lunacy has reached its peak.

The people who claim that they’re balanced, no different. You can feel them tentacling you in conversation, probing for your views, not because they respect you or want to get to know you, but they don’t associate with the other side.

Both sides do this, it’s really just what’s your choice of crazy?

In comes my side, a party of two– myself and my brother. Our perspective is a little different than yours.

I love all of you fighting to make a difference, but don’t point and call me out in a crowd when I’m trying to get bread.

I don’t associate with loss.

And eventually, every side takes its turn losing.

So, here’s my view for you recruiters wasting your time: Everyone wants the prize, but no one wants to play.

I’m not going to move off grid and live in the woods to keep my so called freedom. I want to be rich and famous, so if I have to give up some freedom to play– I will. There’s no planet I incarnated to be broke, isolated, and charmin-ultra-soft free.

You’re talking about privacy but have an iphone. You’re talking about health but eat genetically modified cardboard. You’re talking about freedom but depend on every luxury of society.

Everything is pay to play. Everything is a trade off.

You do it everyday, and then in the same breath turn around and draw a line on the weirdest possible thing—

it’s looney.

And don’t misunderstand me, I’m cool with it. I love rebels.

I just love winning more. I’m not going to give anyone advice, because no one really wants it. The majority will read this and wonder if I’m Blue or Red? Pro or Against?

But while you take a stand and show everyone that you’re unhire-able, your false gods and all the celebrities the public worships stay winning, and pretend. Actors don’t act in movies, they get paid to act in public.

How could you think someone whos rich cares about your small life?

They say they do? So, you believe them?

C’mon. You know better.

A lot of you will read this and think I’m somehow fake or disloyal. And for those of you that do, you’ll only find pain here. This blog is for intelligent people, not mascots.

For the rest of you, my only advice is this: Before you take a stand or make any big decisions, ask yourself: Is this how I picture my life? Is this what I desire?

Act on that, not others BS.

It’s a helluva time to be alive, shit is awesome. But you’ll get in life what you trade– it’s a universal law.

We all pay to play.

If Fear is the mind killer… this is the Life liquidator ⛔️

I love DUNE. I’ve read all the books way before there was ever even talks of a movie, but that movie was fire too.

That said, your only mind killer isn’t fear.

It’s also the wrong attitude.

It’s insane how much this impacts every single aspect of your life.

A negative attitude will just about crush any chance of improvement. It’ll cause you to spit in the face of opportunity and cheat on the rented time allotted to you.

I wouldn’t worry so much about fear. Wasting life is a far more imminent danger– and it’s easy to do nowadays, mix in your shit outlook and you’ve just about done it.

A negative attitude is a life liquidator.

I write a lot about attitude because it’s easily one of the hardest things for me to maintain. Different minds have different wiring, and mine is wired to play compare and contra—st-I-don’t-have-that.

It’s SUPER lame.

It’s not like I’m staring at Lambos crying about my all too present desire for one, it’s more being in love with the idea of fulfillment.

Anyone else relate to that?

You’re in love with the concept of love, but not actual love.

REAL life demands compromise– you can refuse all you want, but then be alone, living off grid, cooking the milk.

I think we’re all guilty of forgetting this.

The Trade.

There is and always will be a pay to play, and if you don’t want to it’s fine, but you can’t complain when you’re instantly disqualified.

We all want our cake and to eat it too.

But it comes down to the game you think is worth playing for— wanna be fulfilled? What game aren’t you playing?

And how can you be entered?

Cigarette Smoking Drama Students

You know the type. Social outcasts, everything is “Lame, dude” and their version of excitement is blasting hard metal while laying flat, poured over a meadow.

Each of us has this. Even if you weren’t this person in high school– it’s in you.

We’re in love with our inner goth.

I’ve been learning about personality types recently, and how to overcome oneself. The way they teach this is your brain has different muscles responsible for different things.

Some muscles are overdeveloped, while others are nearly nonexistent. Your overdeveloped muscles are the problem. The reason you keep having the same recurring life obstacles is because you don’t address this inner imbalance— the inner goth.

Your go-to way of living is using that over-developed muscle. Think of that as your “inner popular kid” or jock.

Given a choice between jock or goth, most without thinking will jocko every time. Problem is, gotho is what leads to building.

If for example, you’re some ultra extrovert, always out and about, hanging, eventually you have to pull back and be alone… at least some of the time. Otherwise when will you build?

Or maybe you’re this curious person. Always taking in new information, well if you want to use any of that– you’ll have to sit down and organize the thing some time.

Our mind CAN shift between different modes, but most of us refuse. We’d rather keep doing jocko and because of that, we get stuck.

Now you’re binge-watching motivation videos all day, and addicted to “getting better” but you’re not actually doing shit.

Improvement isn’t a book or video. It’s goth. It’s taking that weak muscle of the brain and feeding it.

If you find yourself having any inner conflict or you’re stuck in life. Incongruence is likely the problem– who have you been neglecting?

Jocko or gotho? Either way, everyone has to be able to play.

Dancing With Delusion: How To Alpha Fear Forward

Each and every one of us is motivated by fear, and the majority of our lives is determined by how we interact (or don’t) with our fear.

Everyone wants The Hero’s Journey in theory, but we consciously cheat on it every single day.

We live like kids but crave adult lives and then wonder why we’re depressed. Your frustration comes from incongruence, you’re not living by what you value.

A child fears being stuck. That same child as an adult fears not building anything to ever secure freedom in the future. It’s the same fear, but better developed so that one can move forward.

That is the idea behind ALPHA fears.

With the latter, you’ll end up embracing opportunity and sticking to whatever necessary to have some successful future. The child fear will lead you to frogger job-ing and thus always starting over.

We have to bring out what’s in us, and to do that we have to destroy what doesn’t match up with it.

There’s no middle ground.

There’s no reality where you have it all.

Everything in life is a trade off. To be fulfilled, and become an individual you have to leave. You have to go on your own journey and a lot of times that means the tribe will hate you.

You’ll lose friends and family, but in the end it’s worth it, because you’ll become someone you admire and respect.

Take whatever you fear, and blow it up– alpha fear it. Worried about people not liking you? How about you living a shit life and not ever being able to help anyone because you never evolved? Fearing being stuck? How about never building anything and having nothing because you always chase random delusions.

Alpha your fears and then use them to take action.

We’re supposed to burn in the flames of uncertainty. That’s where we evolve as human beings.

Take the call.

What I Have To Do To Overcome Self Hate

You regularly cheat on yourself– sometimes for others, sometimes for yourself.

The reason we fall into self-hate is because we don’t honor, define, and live by our own values.

In short, you’re a cheater.

No one is born hating themselves, but everyone is born to specific values.

This is where my stand is different from everyone on the internet. Fuck nurture, it’s all nature.

And if you want any semblance of a good life you’ll figure out the values you actually have and start living them.

For example, I didn’t choose to value eating clean, being in shape, staying active, and being independent in every sense of the word. Those sound like everyones values. But when I cheat on them, any one of them, even a little– I start to hate myself.

What is that?

Think of it as your soul hating the character it’s playing as.

Your interests and values guide you to maximum development, to becoming and reaching your potential. When you don’t follow that inner voice, that inner voice lashes out.

As hard as it is, don’t take it personal.

Pay attention.

Ask yourself: Why am i angry with myself?

This is how you begin to define your values and from there, live by them. I recently started clean eating. I was always in shape, but usually I’d eat whatever I want, snack too much, feel like garbage, then spend the rest of the day obsessively trying to burn it off. Stupid and disgusting.

Now, I eat clean– don’t worry about it, and focus on my work. Win-win.

And I feel awesome, I feel self-love and self-respect.

I’m moving onto the rest. Which look like having something I can give myself to– a craft, my work. I value that. I value boldness, but also mastery. It’s up to you to create yourself.

So, feeling angry with yourself?

That’s just the actor you’re mad at. Don’t take it personal, it’s not feelings but data.

Figure out what value you’ve broken, and moving forward be deliberate to never break it again. Start with just one value. This will lead to others without you getting overwhelmed.

There is no permanent self hate, you just don’t want to act like this current self.

Who Wrote Those Journals?

When I tell you I’ve greatly underestimated the value of true friendship, I don’t just mean fun and excitement.

True friendship tests you. It pushes back on your bullshit, but at the same time– it points you in the right direction.

Everything I did on my own was naturally delusional. My introspection was delusional.

I kept leaving what I was naturally inclined for and choosing random paths that I tried to persuade myself were for me.

Reading my journals– who the hell wrote them? How is it possible that you have the right memories with the wrong endings?

Don’t choose what you like or want, choose what you repeatedly do.

Easily the greatest gift from my brotherhood is this— both of us stopped judging ourselves and got REAL. Stop trying to be something you’re not, and go all the way in on what you naturally do.

You’ll know when you interact with the actual thing– when you’re on the real path. It’ll make you feel more yourself, you’ll be freer. Boredom won’t reach you so easily, and something in you will light up.

You’ll have more energy, excitement, and engagement.

Whatever it is you think you want, entertain the fact that you could be completely wrong. Because what’s better than a life of fun is fulfillment.

Where are you weird?

The person who must have something, the one that is so desperate to get that thing they’ve given up on every other unrelated aspect of life– they never get it.

But that part time casual, the one who is practical and steadily works towards that aim, they end up achieving it.

Desperation is delusions cousin.

As soon as you need something, all-or-nothing need it, do or die type of desire– contrary to popular guru opinion, you don’t get it.

In fact, your mind makes that thing you so desperately want bigger than what it is, it distorts it, and now you’re further removed from it.

You end up being all weird when you have to take action or approach it, and when faced with opportunity, you’ll self sabotage. We all have this– the only question is where are you weird? Ever notice the areas that come so easily to you, you pretty much don’t care about? I have friends who really value having social circles….

…and then theres me, who literally goes hermit, unplugs, and missing for months.

Some think it’s rude, but you know how artists get— we disappear regularly in the name of creativity.

Point is, it’s me who easily gets the social circles out of all the people I know. Easily. I send text, they say yes, we social-vert.

Never understood what was difficult there.

I get weird with creating.

“Oh, we’re making something?” face gets all itchy, I start thinking grandiose, the playfulness wears off, and now it’s all-or-nothing thinking.

The solution? Apply the same method from the areas of life you’re effortless in– but to your desire. To do this, you have to let go.

You have to make it smaller, not bigger than it is.

You have to see it as just another thing, nothing more or less.

Trust that if it’s true to you— to who you are, you’ll return to it. If not, you’ll find what is. Either way, you’ll find what you were really looking for.

“The Problem Is Not The Problem…”

…The problem is your attitude of the problem.” –Cap. Jack Sparrow

If you need the commercial breaks during your movie, you’re doing it wrong.

Ever have those days where everything is clear? You feel good, you only see the positive, and even though it doesn’t last, all you feel is gratitude for the life you have?

I wish I could lock these in, keep them on repeat, and live the rest of my life like this.

These never last long, but during– I can see clearly, I’m optimistic, happy to be alive, and filled with gratitude.

During these commercials, I’m in the best possible mood. If I could stay in that mind, I’d have the exact life I’d always wanted.

All moods are temporary, but somehow this one is the commercial break. My movie is the “Everything is fucked” genre.

But I’m changing that.

Yesterday I saw a commercial that stuck with me. Not a literal Ad, but a brief moment of wisdom coming over you as you drive passed the in-n-out burger.

Boredom is a luxury.

And– you have no real problems.

That voice, the actual voice of reason, common sense— finally spoke loud enough for me to hear and I was instantly lifted into a good mood.

The truth is, you practice suffering all the time. You have no chill. Even with all the journaling, and self-recording, you still didn’t see it.

Your mind just creates problems– straw-men. None of which are real.

You’ve practiced misery so much and being unhappy, that now with all this opportunity, you’re not sure how to handle it. Well I’ll tell you– lighten up.

It is that simple.

Feeling excited about life, and playful towards it is how I want to play this game. So, my focus is a positive, playful, and expansive mindset. Real success is keeping the right frame of mind, that’s what I’ll be doing.

That’s my challenge to you– can you play where you are?
